Help me help you !

You'll probably recognize your pseudonym when you read this, assuming you will come back to the blog one day...
Yes, I have been silent for a while and there's a good reason for this. All my focus has been elsewhere lately, mainly on sports motorcycles and photography. But let's get back to the subject at hand! Around the time I started writing this Bible - sorry - I meant Blog, I also joined this wonderful Motorsport forums http://www.motorsportforums.com on which I have just found a bunch of private messages which I had no idea were there...

So, Mr "Hammer88" if you read this, yes I'd like to help you out with your shock absorber choice for your rally car, but  I'm unable to answer you on the forum, somehow. You can try posting a comment on this blog perhaps?

  1. Great bible, I mean blog :), Anthony! I went through all of the articles a few times now and it's a treat. I appreciate the effort you put so far in here and would be very glad if you found time to write some more! It's much appreciated and I recommended the blog to all my rally obsessed friends. It would be great to share your thoughts on the new wrcs, as well as more stories about the old ones!

  2. I hope you anthony do well and you keep on posting. If i might ask i'll like to know about the technology of the focus 03 as it has been stated many times as one of the most technologically advanced wrc cars ever.
Ive seen photos of the car with an airtank on the rear as a device to get over the restrictor. Also i heard about realtime gps adjusted diffs and suspension. Can you develope about this item? Thanks

  3. Anthony your blog is Simply Amazing. I cant believe how can somebody have such a technical knoledge of wrc. Hope you keep om posting in this blog and you answer my 2 questions.
How much technology was in the 03 focus, is it true it was the most technological car ever, i heard about real time gps adjusted diffs and suspensions aswell as ride height, and an air tank in the rear bumper.
2 Did you use simulators for practising, we heard a lot about richard burns rally or rfactor or dirt rally. If you did how do you think they compare to real life?
3 How do you brake and drive in general in the wrc? I've seen rally drivers dont brake all in one go. How markko martin did perform in general and how do you compare to him?
Thanks for your time and cheers

    1. Hiya! I don't know if the car was the most advanced but I can tell you it was a fecking jet fighter. My car did not have any gps adjusted diffs: I think that's racing stuff. in 2005 the 2 factory cars had an electronic ride height control, yes. My car never had it though. As far as I know the air tank in the boot was something illegal and it was removed, I never had that in my car. I used early rally pc games to practice playing and listening to notes, to teach my brain to focus on 2 things simultaneously. In rally there is improvising, sometimes: very rarely, you will brake on and off; but top drivers normally brake hard once and then go on throttle. Markko Martin was a smoother and less sideways driving driver than I was. I think he was extremely fast but maybe a bit unreliable? I had a style that was more like in between Richard Burns and Carlos Sainz but not as good of course :)
